‘Connections in exile’ shows the relationships that some of the exiles maintained among themselves and with other Spaniards living abroad. Click on the ‘View larger map’ icon on the upper-right hand corner of the map to access a larger version.
In the index, individuals and institutions appear alphabetized by surname. Relationships are listed under the individual involved whose surname comes earlier in the alphabet (e.g. the relationship between Adolfo Salazar and Rodolfo Halffter is listed under Halffter).
The lines are colour-coded as follows:
-Green: research, academic. This concerns joint research projects, academic publications of the exiles in Spain, correspondence with Spanish academics and music critics, etc.
-Pink: performance. This concerns Spanish performers or institutions performing or programming works by the exiles.
-Orange: correspondence, friendship. Other personal relationships not leading immediately to a publication or performance.
-Blue: artistic collaborations, e.g. films.
-Brown: political, e.g. membership of a political party or organization.
-Grey: several. A mixture of two or more of the above.
